With the leasehold act reform act of 2002 came the right to manage your own block of flats. This is not something that most leaseholders would want to do in normal circumstances but for those that are having problems with their managing agents or with their freeholder it is now a viable option.
No More Bad Managing Agents
If you feel that your management company is ripping you off you now have the right to sack them and do the management yourself or instruct another company to do it on your behalf. You don’t have to prove malpractice by your current management company. You can simply apply for the right to manage.
Setting Up An RTM Is Simple
It is not a complicated procedure but you should make sure you want to go down this route as there is a lot to consider. You will need to make sure that the other leaseholders are on board as they will need to be part of the new “right to manage company” (RTM).
